RISE FLY FISHING FILM TOUR on 26 September

RISE FLY FISHING FILM TOUR

The RISE Film Tour Returns to Nelson at the State Theatre on

26 SEPTEMBER

The RISE Fly Fishing Film Tour is the largest fly-fishing film event of its kind in the world,

featuring a selection of the best fly-fishing films from around the globe.

This year's films take you into the science of the Costa Marlin Project, to the NZ backcountry chasing Trout on big dries,

to the deep depths of the jungle for the massive Peacock Bass, and a Steelhead story

with characters as rare as the fish itself + many, many more.

This is always a fun event on the annual angling calendar.

Get together with other club members, grab a pizza beforehand at Stefano’s, and make a night out of it.

MOTUEKA RIVER CLEANUP WITH FISH & GAME

Last year, club members joined with Fish & Game to help remove a substantial amount of rubbish from popular fishing spots alongside the Motueka River.

ANOTHER DAY IS PLANNED FOR

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 15th

Come along and help out … it’s only for 2 - 3 hours,

It’s a fun day-out working with other club members.

We will then be off to the river for a fish, so bring your fishing gear along. The Motueka River is currently fishing well with lots of fat 2lbers and some bigger trout returning from spawning. Several club members have enjoyed some excellent fishing in the last two weeks.

Anyone who can help should contact:

Don Clementson

CLUB WORKING BEE - OLD MAN’S BEARD CONTROL

Club members recently helped with the organised control of Old Man’s Beard on the Motueka River.

ANOTHER DAY IS PLANNED FOR

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 1ST

Come along and help out … it’s only for a couple of hours,

It’s a fun day, easy work and all gear is provided.

Also, don’t forget to bring your fishing gear along, because after the working bee, we will enjoy some fishing time on the Motueka Rv … which is fishing well at the moment.

If you can help and would like to join us for the day, contact:

Don Clementson

… mobile: 027 437 6019

or email: clementsondon@gmail.com

(We need to know numbers to ensure the right amount of gear).

WINTER FLY-TYING Sessions

Following on from the success of our three RECENT introductory fly-tying evenings,

the Club is running a further SIX Thursday evening fly-tying sessions,

for budding and experienced fly-tiers to learn more advanced techniques

and tie a wider range of useful trout flies.

JULY 11th and 25th

AUGUST 8th and 22nd

SEPTEMBER 5TH and 19th
Start time 7pm … at Nelson-Marlborough Fish & Game Rooms, Champion Rd

Any club member who is interested in fly-tying is welcome to come along.

There will be a demonstration of a different pattern involving new techniques each evening,

and members will be encouraged to work on expanding their skills.

However, if you would just prefer to come along and tie your own creations,

that’s all good too!

The idea is mostly to get club-members who enjoy fly-tying,

together to enjoy each other’s company, while adding to their fly boxes.

The club has six sets of fly-tying equipment available for members’ use.

Those members who have their own equipment are encouraged to bring and use it.

* Bring your vice, lamp, fly-tying tools, hooks, wire and threads.

* Specialist materials needed for demo flies will be provided.

The F&G Rooms can fit around 15 fly-tiers.

Please confirm your interest to Tony Entwistle via email to: enty10@gmail.com.

Parking

The cycleways on Champion Rd have reduced the parking options for the Fish and Game rooms, suggest alternatives are:-

  1. Parking at Fish and Game park facing the road, or the building,

  2. The Kindergarten at 60 Champion Rd has given us permission to use their carpark, provided they are not using them.

  3. Daelyn Drive. Park on Daelyn drive, it is a short walk to the rooms.
